Baileys Baked Goodness
Our Christmas Days were beautiful and full of family, rest, reflections, and fantastic food. I served up the following baked french toast on Christmas Morning and quite like it! The top is all crispy with a hint o’ Irish, while the bottom is moist and ‘french toasty’. I think this will be a traditional Christmas Day offering for us!
Dee’s Baked Irish Toast
- Bread torn into chunks (about 1 ½ loaves or commercial ‘Villagio’ type, or homemade French), spread into a greased 9×13 pan
Mixtogether:
- 12 eggs
- 1 ½ cups milk (choose your fat level)
- ½ cup whipping cream
- Juice from ½ a squeezed orange
- ½ tbsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
Topping:
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- ½ cup Baileys Irish Cream
Pour egg mixture evenly over torn bread, followed by Baileys, and finally the butter/sugar mixture.Bake for 40 minutes at 350 (or until puffy and crisp on top)
Serve with whipped cream and maple syrup (or vanilla ice cream!)
